The works were carried out to reinforce the Torre Can Curt, which is protected under the figure of Cultural Interest Property (BIC), Registration Number CAIB; 7048-2-2-51-002509, and state registration R-I-51-0008615, declared by the Decree of the Ministry of National Education (BOE 94/1991 of October). The purpose was to ensure its integrity due to the deterioration it had suffered. The main cause of deterioration was water infiltration from the roof.

The works, promoted by the Department of Culture and Heritage, required the application of techniques never before used in Ibiza, such as three-dimensional X-ray scanning of the tower to diagnose its actual condition. The severity of the tower’s pathologies necessitated structural reinforcement, as it was heavily affected by moisture and the proliferation of vegetation that had damaged the stones. The tower was also shored up while the intervention project was being processed.
